Please note that we reached this year’s maximum capacity of 1800 participants today. People who still hope to get a chance to get into this year’s Festival can apply to be added to the waiting list.
It is the third year in a row that the event is sold out in advance. But to put things into perspective, in 2013 a lack of available hotels only permitted 800 participants and now we are at …1800. We are of course grateful to everybody who has signed up, and especially the many returning participants to our grassland event. More than 40 countries will be represented during the 3-day Festival.
Especially the number of MTB participants has increased significantly this year with in total about 600 riders who will take the start at Nadamu Arena on Friday afternoon, including last year’s winner Myagmarsuren Basaankhuu. Approximately 150 of those will do the combination with the Grassland Marathon run on Saturday morning, and thus compete for the King of the Grasslands crown, currently held by Heilongjiang’s Wang Lidong.

Our race technical mission took place in Xiwuqi this week, and reports from the grasslands are that all race courses are confirmed for July. A few changes here and there will not affect the total distances significantly, and the Grassland Marathon course is entirely the same as last year. MTB stage 3 will see the largest modifications and see riders go further north than ever, including an extra hillclimb in unspoilt grassland.
