10 heats and 2 Finals on the first day of this year’s Xiwuqi Outdoor Sports Festival, all held in good weather conditions. Teng Hongxue narrowly outsprinted Russia’s Marat Kashapov for the road bike category victory. In the morning in the heats, Kashapov was still slightly ahead of the same Teng Hongxue as the Russian proved to be a fantastic runner. However, in the finals, the Chinese participant managed to just keep Kashapov within range during the 1.2km run in the town park in order to overtake him again in the final kilometre on the bike.
Former KOG champion Wang Lidong was the winner in the MTB category, also in a tight sprint with Li Ran.
In the women’s competition, Yu Tianqi won the sprint duathlon for road bike with a distinct advantage of a few seconds on Bai Meng. Zhang Yaqian was fastest on the MTB, with former KOG Champion Lv Fangfang in third.
