The California MTB components company WTB, short for Wilderness Trail Bikes, has extended its sponsorship of our Genghis Khan MTB Adventure for a third consecutive year. MILL VALLEY, CALIFORNIA – November 26, 2013 – WTB announced today that it will continue to be the Official Sponsor of the Genghis Khan MTB Adventure & Grassland Extreme Marathon taking place July 4 – 6, 2014 in Xiwuqi, a small town in the northern portion of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. This marks WTB’s third year partnering with Nordic Ways Management Consulting, the Beijing-based company responsible for hosting and organizing the event.
The Genghis Khan MTB Adventure opens with an individual time trial that is followed by 3 stages, totaling 200 km of racing over a remote landscape composed of clay and sandy hard pack terrain. Daniel Carruthers, WTB’s Asia-Pacific PR and Marketing representative elaborated further on the event: “The Genghis Khan MTB Adventure is not technically challenging as you ride across the vast grasslands, where Genghis Khan himself once reigned supreme, enjoying wide open four-wheel drive tracks and bumpy grassland sheep trails.” Carruthers stated, “It is a perfection introduction to multi-stage MTB racing with its three-stage format.”
WTB sees the Genghis Khan MTB Adventure as a perfect compliment Chinese mountain bike racing as it becomes increasingly sophisticated, “WTB sees the Genghis Kahn MTB Adventure as an iconic event and a place to showcase WTB product, especially TCS (Tubeless Compatible System) that eliminates flat tires for racers.”
Henry Chen, General Manager of WTB China, also commented on Genghis Khan MTB Adventure, “The growth of the Genghis Khan MTB Adventure really impressed us. The Genghis Khan MTB Adventure & Grassland Extreme Marathon first began in 2007 and has averaged an international representation of over 30 countries each year. 2014 marks the eighth year and the event will begin July 4th, 2014 next year.
